Thomas A. Edison Career & Technical Education High School is a place where students can learn and teachers can teach in a warm and welcoming environment free of intimidation and fear.
It is a setting where the educational climate fosters a spirit of acceptance and care for every child. A setting where behavior expectations and consequences are clearly communicated, where conflict prevention and reduction strategies are embraced, where staff development is important, and where the building and grounds are viewed from a safety and security perspective. A safe school campus is orderly and well maintained. Teachers and staff who care about the success and safety of every child are at the heart of a safe school. Adequate adult supervision and parent and student involvement are key components of the safe school management process. All New York City Department of Education students and parents are given a Citywide Standards of Discipline and Intervention Measures otherwise known as The Discipline Code. Also included in this document is the Bill of Student Rights and Responsibilities which speaks of "a sense of mutual respect among students, parents and staff for the good of all concerned...."
